What does a purposeful company mean to you?

To me, IT means that a company has a clear and long-lasting answer to the question “Why?”. In volatile industries with a changing climate, that answer will be put to the test where it’s crucial to dig and think deeply about it.

What is your favorite purposeful brand?

I actually have two. First of all Apple, for empowering people with intuitive design. You can follow their constant and clever aesthetic across decades. Their commitment towards consumer privacy has completely reshaped online advertising with a single software update, adding to their “Why?” with a simple: Privacy is a fundamental human right.

The second one is Patagonia. The brand has a proven commitment to sustainability that only a few others can match. Committing your company’s profits to the environment – instead of selling the company or taking it public – is a bold and unexpected move.

What company inspires you at the moment?

Tibber, because they inverted the way an electricity company works. Their success is directly tied to their customers consuming less energy. Every other company earns more by selling more, but Tibber realizes that the greenest energy is energy that isn’t used at all.
